Open the JSON file
that breaks everything else.

RoShON is a native Mac app for browsing, searching, and editing JSON. It doesn't parse a file before showing it to you — it opens the structure instantly and reads the rest as you look at it, so a multi-hundred-megabyte log dump or API dump opens the same way a five-line config file does.

Everything you touch on a JSON file, in one window.

[0]

Instant on huge files

Files are indexed lazily instead of parsed up front. A 200 MB export opens as fast as a config file — you only pay for the part of the tree you actually look at.

[1]

Paste and go

⌘V anywhere in the app and whatever's on your clipboard gets parsed immediately. No "new file," no save dialog first.

[2]

Search that means it

Regex, case sensitivity, and a scope toggle for keys vs. values vs. both — with instant next/previous navigation through matches.

[3]

Edit in place

Double-click any value to change it. Numbers and booleans are validated as you type, so you can't accidentally save broken JSON.

[4]

Copy exactly what you need

Right-click any node to copy its value, its full $.path.to.it, or the whole subtree as formatted JSON.

[5]

Dark, light, or system

Matches macOS automatically, or pin it either way. Your data never leaves the machine — there's nothing to phone home to.

The part other viewers make you wait for, RoShON skips.

<1ms
to open a 200 MB file — the structure is indexed, not parsed, so there's nothing to wait on
O(1)open time
opening cost doesn't grow with file size — a native engine written in Rust does the heavy lifting
0network calls
parsing, search, and editing all happen on your Mac — nothing is uploaded anywhere

Measured opening a 211.8 MB / 2.1M-object synthetic JSON file on Apple silicon. Your numbers will vary with disk and file shape — but the point stands: opening never gets slower just because the file got bigger.

Questions

What macOS version do I need?

macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.

Is it a subscription?

No. It's a one-time $20 purchase. You get the app, and every update after that, for free.

Does anything leave my computer?

No. RoShON has no network code in its parsing or editing path. Your JSON stays on your Mac.

How do I get the app after paying?

Stripe redirects you straight to a download page after checkout, and emails you a receipt with the same link.

Checkout isn't hooked up on this preview yet — see website/README.md.
